Summer on the alp...
Vacation like Heidi on the alp...
Every year in Mid-June the traditional cattle-drive takes place. Hundreds of cows, calves, goats and sheep from the valley spend their "summer holidays" with us on the alp and graze right in front of our house.
Here you literally spend your summer break just like Heidi!
Of course this also includes lots of alpine huts offering food and beverages. They are easily reachable on foot. Fresh milk, butter, alp cheese and various other delicacies from the "Karnischen Region" - directly from the producer!

Bathing & Swimming
The Pressegger Lake, on of Austria's warmest bathing lakes, is just a short 25 minute car trip away. Your little ones play in a lovely amusement park. Everybody who has always wanted to dunk his
feet into the clearest bathing lake in all of Austria's alps simply has to go visit the Weißensee - just a 40-minute car trip away.
All of Carinthias's bathing lakes are of drink water qualitiy!
Should the weather not be on your side, there's always other things you can do. The "Water-& Wellness Oasis Aquarena" in Kötschach-Mauthern is well worth the trip! It's water fun for the whole family! If one is in the mood for sea and beaches, by car you can hit the beaches of the Adriatic Sea in just 1 ½ hours - on a clear day you can even see the sea from the Gartnerkofel!
Hiking & Biking
With more than 1000 kilometres of marked hiking trails and routes of varying difficulty levels there's sure to be something for everybody! For particularly sporty people there is the "Karnische Höhenwanderweg". It's more than 110 kilometres long and runs along the main mountain ridge. Those who like it a bit more "relaxed" can conquer the first metres in altitude by taking the chair lift "Gartnerkofel". Everybody who is interested in our faszinating and mysterious past and wants to learn more about it should take on the "Geotrail", Europe's geologically largest trail. Enjoy our impressive alp-flaura including the Wulfenia, a unique flower only bloomig at the Nassfeld! To those who'd rahter explore our landscape by bike, Nassfeld offers more than 800 kilometres of marked mountainbike-trails and 31 routes of varying difficulty levels.
Kids
For your litte ones your vacation with us will be one big adventure. The immediate surroundings of our Almhaus are one big playground! The woods behind the house, the many streams, meadows, the free-range animals (calves, horses, goats) and the many neighbor kids are an inviation to play and frolic. Thanks to our house's location at the end of a cul-de-sac parents can let their kids play freely without having to worry. Where kids can play and have fun, parents can really enjoy their VACATION!

At 1500 metres above sea level you can enjoy a very nice, mediterranean climate. The days are warm, the refreshingly cool nights ensure a pleasant night's sleep.
